How to Create YouTube Subscription Categories

Build a category system for the YouTube channels you follow. Create a few clear groups, customize how they look, and add channels as you browse.

Get started with YouAssistant

  1. 1

    Open Groups

Open YouTube with YouAssistant installed and select Groups in the extension.

  2. 2

    Select New Group

Enter a name, choose a color and icon, and optionally select a parent group.

  3. 3

    Save and organize channels

Save the group, then assign channels from Channels or manage them from a group.

Choose names that match how you watch

Start with topics such as Tech, Learning, News, Music, or Movies. Short names are easier to scan. Create nested groups when a broad topic needs more structure.

Make groups easy to recognize

Choose a color and icon for each group. Keep colors consistent by topic so you can spot groups quickly.

Keep categories flexible

Edit a group, change its parent, or update its icon later. Free supports up to five groups; Pro removes that limit.

Create a clearer home for your YouTube subscriptions

Group channels by topic and make your subscriptions easier to browse.
